The Q1 2026 Custom Keyboard Hobby Survey was designed to capture a snapshot of the current state of the hobby, in an effort to better the hobby by providing coverage on current sentiment, trends, and preferences.
The survey instrument itself was developed under time constraints, without formal review or a validation process. Several questions could have been structured more clearly, certain response options were not as precise as they could have been, and limitations affected how responses were collected and organized.
These limitations introduce areas for improvement in survey design and execution. In future iterations, more deliberate question testing, clearer segmentation logic, refined answer choices, and improved technical setup would strengthen data reliability and analytical depth. This report should therefore be read as an exploratory directional study rather than a statistically rigorous or fully optimized instrument.
How to read the numbers: Results are descriptive summaries of the raw survey export (N=484). Percentages use the question’s valid responses (so base N can vary slightly by question if there are blanks). For “Select all that apply” questions, percentages represent the share of respondents who selected each option (totals can exceed 100%). Segment comparisons (by experience, tenure, spend, etc.) report within-segment percentages with segment Ns noted where relevant. Open-ended themes are directional counts based on simple keyword/string matching (responses can map to multiple themes).
This report was created with the use of AI to help with both data analysis and writing.
